Taking a Break

Updated: Jun 17, 2022

This is my tenth week into my journey to hike the Grand Canyon in October 2022. Wow ten weeks already and I can see and feel the improvement. I can breathe easier, and I do not end up with sore muscles at the end my hikes now. That can only mean it is time to challenge myself further.

I was not able to hike this tenth week, just could not find the time, so a little disappointed in myself. But I tell myself it is OK to take a break after nine weeks of hiking every week.

Next week my challenge will be to conquer the Mystic Canyon trail to “Punk-Out-Point” and then eventually the full 9.5 miles of the Mystic Canyon/Upper Monroe Trail. This trail is in the San Gabriel Mountains, Glendora, California.

You can find more information on the Poop-out and Punk-Out trails at:

This site has loads of information on hiking.

Then I have planned in the near future a hike along the Couger Crest Trail. This trail is about 5 miles and is rated intermediate to difficult. I will again have to take my time. The trailhead here is located in the mountains near Big Bear California. This will be a good exercise as it is at some altitude.

Here is US Forest Service website for more information on this trail.
